I know for some of y’all this is your first encounter with this kind of platform implosion. You might be panicking, thinking that come 12:01 on Dec 17 all your friends are going to vanish forever and the culture you’ve created for yourself here will be gone. It won’t. We won’t. The exodus from LJ took years, and so will this one. I’m not deleting yet, just like I didn’t delete my LJ until I was left with no other choice; but I will be digging out my passwords for other platforms, making an emergency contact list to stay in touch with friends, and backing up content I don’t want to disappear if my blog suddenly goes female-presented-nipples up. When it’s time to go, I’ll be packed and ready. So don’t panic my bbs. Just start making your contingency plans. If you don’t want to burn your blog down yet, you don’t have to. Just make sure you know where the fire escape is. ❤
