TIL that a cat once co-authored a physics paper. In 1975, a physicist had just finished writing a paper and was ready to publish but realized that he had used ‘we’ instead of ‘I’ throughout, despite being the sole author. Not wanting to edit the paper, he listed his cat, Chester, as a co-author.
Ok but the best part is, physicists loved the joke. When people called the author’s university and he wasn’t available, they’d ask to speak with the co-author instead. The author issued a limited number of copies of the article signed by both authors. (Chester’s was obviously a pawprint.) And to this day, physics papers will often have F.D.C Willard (Felix Domesticus, Chester Williard [Willard was the author’s father’s name]) mentioned in the footnotes thanking his “useful contributions to the discussion”.

The name Lolita has nothing to do with pedophillia. It was chosen by Japanese designers in the 70’s because it sounded old fashion and European so it fit the style. Due to a language barrier they did not know what connotations it had outside of Japan

Lolita fashion was intended to be intentionally childish, but not because it would be sexual to pedophiles. The original lolita fashion movement was a symbol of rebellion, of girls reclaiming their sexuality from a society that told them to dress formally at all times to find a husband.
These girls created fashion based around a little girl’s idea of fancy. It wasn’t good looking to men, but the women who wore it loved it, and that was the entire point.
Lolita fashion is basically the Flapper movement of Japan (which, for those who don’t know, was also a movement of young women defying traditional gender roles by dressing in ways they found fun instead of in ways that were deemed appropriate).

Because hundreds of thousands of people have already paid for their tuition. Should they be reimbursed? It’s not fair to the people who have already paid/ are paying for college. That’s why.
Yeah I love thinking how my kids are gonna cry and have panic attacks because of the heavy student loans they’re gonna have just because they want to go to a good school. Now imagine this is someone (likely a kid) thats just starting to explore art! Imagine if we all reacted like this to their “ cringey ” ocs and wonky anatomy doodles!!! Do you know how happy and inspired they would be? I just wish more people built up young artists because if we keep criticizing them and telling them their art isnt good enough you know what thats going to do? Make them not want to create, be ashamed of what they do, and feel bad about liking things.
I would rather take 15-20 mins out of my life to sketch somebodys oc then take 2 seconds and post a hurtful comment
