It IS a magic protection ritual, and it summons an iron gate to protect you from intruders. 

You have to enchant the iron so it protects against the fae.

This would work great in a visualization during the creation of wards, or protection magic.

Ok I really wanna get a hold of this dude I used to know who has a workshop for metal casting and such. Somewhere I have a little charm he made. He made one for each person in the class which was pretty cool. Mine I recall is like a fancy shell. I wanna try metal work…. since apparently I’m the only alter not afraid of molten metal.
