Colors

I challenge the world to see in colors;
Now, don’t ask me what that means,
We seem to be content with grey,
But that’s not all I see.

I hear cries from eastern lands,
These parts bleed a deep red.
There, poverty became wide-spread,
The blood is on our hands.

I see life that isn’t human,
Beautiful plants and creatures,
But green is going out of style,
And many will be extinct in a while.

I see pain that runs like a river,
Deeper than the ocean trenches,
Blue as the boldest sapphire,
But covered by the tales of selfish liars,

I know corruption by the same deceivers
Who terrorize the innocent,
Turning the streets a barren yellow,
These frauds claim to be decent.

I see inequality,
Turning our youth green with envy,
Wrongful discrimination
I pray righted by our generation;

And I see trauma from disasters,
Pulling hearts down under,
Encasing them in a black abyss
Where faith and hope are more than missed,

Years and years, I’ve cried for help,
But no one seems to care,
They tell me “I don’t see in color,
And that’s more than fair.”

But I say, let us celebrate
Our differences; and feel our pain,
And recognize what’s right and wrong,
Let’s lift the weak to join the strong!

Let’s see the colors of our world,
Instead of hiding behind grey,
Let’s heal the wounds of fellow souls,
And fight to make this planet whole.
