Not my posts but an interesting thought.
THIS! READ THIS!
This is also true of marginalized/traumatized students in classrooms. Their acting out and, to be honest, sometimes intentionally setting out to “break” their teachers is a desperate attempt to feel some sort of power/control when they don’t have it in their lives as a whole.
We (teachers) are still human beings, though. Understanding motivation doesn’t make actions “ok”. It just makes them understandable and hopefully gives an insight into how to approach redirecting that impulse.
