How a woman’s internal organs move when she’s pregnant.
+AsapSCiENCE

Let’s see a man do this 😂

I have a short body to begin with, no wonder I couldn’t poop for months.

The habit of women in families talking about their pregnancies was to prepare each other, as there was literally no other place for women to learn.  Since women’s bodies in extended families are likely pretty similar, they were likely to undergo similar gestational changes.  (e.g. my mother, aunt and daughter couldn’t poop either, lol.)  If one woman was physically different than the others or had notably-different pregnancy-experiences, they’d go find her “someone else” to talk to, hence the doula and midwife came into being.

These women were the experts until “science” (men) took childbirth away from women.  The Second Wave tried to restore it to us, but first had to describe and name the situation, which is always half the battle.

Reading time (you knew it was coming, dincha?):

Witches, Midwives, and Nurses :

A History of Women Healers

by Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English (pdf)

In my country they purposely fail female doctors tryna specialise in gyneacology, they said the way women can help is not valid cause they don’t have the science and when we try to pursue it we’re failed.
